Saturday, briefly in my last blog i gave you a rough idea of what I done in Edinburgh. I'm just deciding to expand it...
When arriving at the Onmi Centre we noticed that Run Fatboy Run was playing in 45 minutes, noticing we had left the Ross Noble tickets back at the hotel Mags ran back whilst I went and bought our film tickets. Rather dealing with people, there is a touch screen monitor which lets you choose the day, film, time and pay, then it prints your tickets out. Which is nifty, but also making humans unnecessary once again lol

Mag's appears back 10 minutes later, with 35 minutes to play with we pottered about the Omni Centre, never been fully in the play before we were surprised to see so many different restaurants; Tapas (Spanish), Frank and Benny's (Italian/American), Chinese Buffet, Japanese Restaurant, Pizza Hut and two bars (Lloyd's Bar & The Slug & Lettuce). After arguing with the people in Chinese Buffet, we opt out to got to the Slug & Lettuce, a trend little cocktail bar. Looking at their drinks menu, I get the brief thought of whether they'd ID me or not and whether they'd accept the Citizen Card as my proof, but with me not shaving for over a month now I had a enough fuzz to show my true age. After discussing what drinks to get; I got for a "Rocktail" (shot of vodka, ice, mix fruit juice) and Mag's goes for a Berry Blast (or was it Bliss?) Smoothie. The stereotypical handsome barman comes over and starts spinning the glasses, shaking the ice, mixing the cocktails in the Preforming Monkey type fashion, Mag's was eating it, I should have placed a small saucer underneath her chin to catch the drool! Women! or should I say Jealousy?
After finding a seat we talk about how much of a culture shock this is compared to little old'Fife, no Neds, sure there has to be a few bad apples but it's just such a trendy public scene, but of course you need the £££ if you want to keep in this trend. I enjoy my Rocktail, the fruit takes out the sting of the vodka, reminding me of the fruit juice children usually get "Ombongo"? (I always want to say Umaga, damn WWE!!). Mag's likes her drink but it requires time to finish with the crushed ice not melting.
We bail out from the Slug and catch the escalator up to the MyVue Cinema, we Que up for a large Pop Corn and Coke Cola. Then we try out the Ben & Jerry's counter picking up two scoops; Carmel Chew Chew and the Chocolate something or other. Then decorating the sugar filled treat with mini malt balls. Lust.
The movie was great, it was filled with the expected Romantic Comedy Cliches, but Simon Pegg is untouchable at the moment, the movie was even a stepping stone for Dylan Moran who stole almost every scene he was in. Other notable faces included Stephen Merchant and David Walliams, I expect Schwimmer to cameo, but no avail. Hank Azaria was fun and freakishly fit, jealousy again. Although looking at Mr. Gnarash's daughter made me feel alot better! I know, I know, sue me!
The opening trailers for the movie included; Shoot'em Up, The Heartbreak Kid, Chuck & Larry (why has it took so long to release this? i've seen this trailer 20 times already and I'm still only going to rent it) and Superbad. Hopefully this weekend I got wonder off to see Superbad, Jonah Hill looks set to steal the movie. I've got Knocked Up pre-ordered on HD-DVD, you should be great, I've seen the movie ahead of this purchase, but I just think it will be a good HD to own. Fuck You Blu-Ray!
Back to the topic AFTER the Ross Noble gig me and mags thought it would be worth making the most of the night, since the Edinburgh Playhouse is next to the Omni Centre. Looking at the bouncers outside Lloyd's Bar give me the flash back to August 18th in Kirkcaldy...again
With Lloyd's bar looking quite busy we decide to look through at the other places to find a quiet spot, I was tempted to go back to the Slug, but it was still pretty busy and I'd probably fall asleep on one of those leather couches. We decide to wing it and go to this Tapas Restaurant. Obviously I had no Idea what I was in for, I thought it was a Mexican restaurant to be honest. When the waitress came over and explained that Tapas is a wide variety of appetizers in Spanish Cuisine. There's me thinking that it was a cheap place lol The menu was in Spanish but the description was in English, right away we scored out the Seafood and Spanish meat. We chose the potato's in a spicy dip, chicken crottes (sp?), chicken wings, chicken in breadcrumbs and spareribs. As you can expect the spare ribs were for me, very messy, very good. To drink, when in Rome, we ordered a random White Wine described as Refreshing, Dry and Zippy! I knew right away when they said zippy, every time i took a sip it screwed my face up.
Mag's thought the place was very romantic and why did I never take her to those places, we both got a laugh out of it.
